The Department of Education (DepEd) announced the upcoming launch of the revised curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 10, scheduled for next month. The completion of the review process for this curriculum is a significant milestone in the department’s learning recovery efforts.
DepEd Undersecretary Michael Poa revealed the plans in a recent interview. He explained that the department has organized “concrete steps” for educational advancement, including the new curriculum for basic education.
“The K to 10 curriculum will be launched in a few weeks,” Poa said. “We will be launching it to show to the public kung ano talaga ang nabago (what were changed),” he added.

Implementation Scheduled for SY 2024-2025
While the launch is set for next month, the implementation of the revised K to 10 curriculum will not commence until the School Year (SY) 2024-2025. According to Poa, this timeline is necessary to ensure that proper learning resources, including textbooks, are prepared before the rollout.
Ongoing Review for Senior High School Curriculum
Poa also shed light on the continuing review for the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum. A national task force is handling this review, working within a structured timeline. DepEd aims to complete the SHS curriculum review within a year, though various factors may impact this goal.
“I don’t want to give a specific timeline but the national task force is having regular meetings for the review of SHS [curriculum],” Poa added.
The Undersecretary further discussed the planned launch of the revised K to 10 curriculum during the post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) discussions on July 26. He confirmed that the K to 10 curriculum review was completed first.
“But the reviews of the senior high school curriculum or Grades 11 and 12 are underway, and we already have a national task force doing that,” he stated.

A Positive Step Forward
The revised curriculum represents a crucial part of DepEd’s strategy to enhance the quality of education in the country. The updates aim to align the curriculum with contemporary educational standards and the specific needs of Filipino students.
By unveiling the revised curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 10, DepEd will offer the public an opportunity to understand the changes and the direction of basic education in the country. Meanwhile, the ongoing review for the Senior High School curriculum signifies the department’s commitment to comprehensive educational reform at all levels.
The scheduled launch and implementation of these curricular adjustments are likely to be closely watched by educators, parents, and other stakeholders, as they will shape the educational landscape in the Philippines in the coming years.
