The University of Santo Tomas(UST) will hold a limited face-to-face classes for medical related courses after it was approved by the local government of Manila on February 3,2021.
The City Government officials headed by Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso had a meeting with UST representatives where the proposal was approved. According to the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) , the two parties discussed how UST would observe health and safety protocols to avoid COVID 19
The university also presented their contingency plans should students and teachers get infected with the virus.

Mayor Isko also reiterated that students cannot be forced to participate in the face-to-face classes if they opt not to attend. He also added that teachers are also one of the priorities for the COVID-19 vaccination drive.
“Teachers will be included in the first batch for the vaccine. Whether you’re a Manilan or a non-Manilan, as long as you’re working here in Manila, you will be included in the list for vaccine,” he said.
President Rodrigo Duterte approved in-person classes for medical courses in areas under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ). Since last year, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has been evaluating the possibilities of holding face-to-face classes for the medical field.
