  • by

President Rodirog R. Duterte signed into law the Republic Act No. 11522 or also known as “National Higher Education Day” every 18th of May on Friday, February 5,2021.

The signed law was made to commemorate the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHEd) founding anniversary.
CHED was created on May 18, 1994 through the passage of Republic Act No. 7722, or the Higher Education Act. It was part of a broad agenda of reforms on the country’s education system outlined by the Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM) in 1992. CHED’s standing mission and vision is to catalyze a Philippine higher education system that is locally responsive and globally competitive, and serves as a force for lifelong learning, innovation, and social and cultural transformation. –excerpt from CHED

PRRD also directed CHEd as in-charge of the annual program of the “National Higher Education Day”. He also encouraged other higher institutions to support the said program.
