DepEd Condemns Shooting of School Principal in Nueva Ecija

In a resounding statement issued on Tuesday, September 19, the Department of Education (DepEd) has vehemently expressed its condemnation of the recent shocking incident involving the shooting of Reden Daquiz, a public school principal in Sto. Tomas North, Jaen, Nueva Ecija.

“We denounce any form of injustice perpetrated against our dedicated personnel, students, and the community stakeholders,” DepEd stated firmly.

According to the available information, the assailants, riding on a motorcycle in tandem, ruthlessly fired seven rounds at the school principal on the ill-fated day of September 19. This brutal attack occurred as the principal was on the brink of entering the entrance gate of Sto. Tomas Elementary School.



Following the attack, the injured victim was swiftly rushed to the Nueva Ecija Medical Center, where he is receiving necessary medical attention.

In response to this horrific incident, educational activities at the Sto. Tomas Elementary School have been temporarily suspended. This action has been taken to facilitate a comprehensive investigation into the events surrounding the shooting.

DepEd has underscored its unwavering commitment to maintaining schools and surrounding communities as zones of peace, safeguarding the well-being of every Filipino.

Additionally, DepEd has pledged active collaboration with relevant regional and local educational authorities, as well as law enforcement agencies, in an endeavor to swiftly identify and bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.
