Senator Sherwin Gatchalian calls the attention of Department of Education(DepEd) to distribute the subsidies to students for basic education under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2) after it was approved in August 24 last year.

Sen. Gatchalian, chair of the Senate basic education committee, was urged to made the call after it was reported that the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has given P 5,000.00 worth of subsidies to over 54,000 learners both in private colleges and universitites who have outstanding fees. CHED had a total allocation of P 300 million from the Bayanihan 2.

“Maraming mga mag-aaral ang matagal nang naghihintay ng tulong pinansyal upang maibsan ang kanilang pangamba pagdating sa mga pangangailangan sa edukasyon,” said Gatchalian.

Meanwhile, DepEd was not able to respond to this call yet.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act No. 11519, which extended the validity of Bayanihan 2 until June 30 this year on December 14,2020.
