Back in June, Abzione Reño’s story touch the hearts of many, as his inspiring story was given the spotlight. After high school, Reño had to find a job so he could support his family. He tried odd job after odd job, from a janitor, a houseboy, a security guard, and a factory worker.
It was in 2008 when he graduated from high school. But instead of going straight to college, he decided to leave his hometown Butuan City to look for a job in Manila. Throughout his experiences holding several jobs, he was able to support his family, however he later on realized that he would help them better if he had a higher-paying job and a stable career.
So at age 23, Reño went back home and enrolled at Caraga State University and took Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Major in Math. He also found a scholarship program to support his studies.
“For seven years, it’s been my dream na makapag-aral ulit tapos siyempre po inspired po ako na galingan po siguro kasi matanda na ako,” Abzonie shared in his inspirational speech as valedictorian.
“Nakakahiya sobrang tanda ko na para maging first year college pa pero ‘yun diun po ang naging motivation ko.”
“Sobrang saya po proud sa sarili kasi ‘yun nga hindi ako bumalik ng pag-aaral para mag-excel bumalik lang ako para makapagtapos lang po pero sobra-sobra pa po yung binigay ni Lord.”
Now, with his hard work and determination, Reño ranked number 7 with a rating of 91.20. He expressed that the challenges that he faced in life motivated him to work hard. And he noted that being the oldest in his class, it inspired him to prove himself.
In his thank you post, he indicated that he had also passed the Civil Service Examination back in March on top of scoring the 7th rank at the September 2019 LET examinations.
He left a sweet message, thanking everyone who had been there for him during his journey.
” I would like to thank my Mama Corazon (Ang Unang Aswang) for everything. Para ni sa imo, ma. My brothers, Ninyot and Toni, and my Papa Abraham. Thank you pud sa ako mga cousins, aunties, uncles and relatives (both sides) for all the support and prayers.”
