Palace’s Special Concert for Teachers on October 1

  • by

Manila, Philippines — The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has announced that Malacañang, the official residence of the Philippine president, will honor Filipino teachers with a special event called “Konsyerto sa Palasyo” on October 1.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, the PCO stated, “A night full of music from our talented performers is our gift to our beloved teachers.”

The concert will be broadcast live on the Konsyerto sa Palasyo Facebook page, making it accessible to a wide audience.

In 1994, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization designated October 5 as World Teachers’ Day. In the Philippines, the celebration of National Teachers’ Month extends from September 5 to October 5, as proclaimed by Proclamation 242 Series of 2011. Additionally, Republic Act 10743, signed in 2016, officially designates the fifth day of October each year as National Teachers’ Day.

Malacañang has previously hosted Konsyerto sa Palasyo events to honor soldiers and their families, as well as Filipino athletes in April and August, respectively. The origin of this concert series can be traced back to President Marcos himself, according to Malacañang.
