DepEd’s Academic Calendar 2023-2024″

  • by

The Department of Education (DepEd) has rolled out the new plan for the school year 2023-2024. These guidelines are like a map that helps schools and community learning centers (CLCs) smoothly run school activities and make the most of teaching time. This plan fits with the DepEd MATATAG Agenda’s goals.

Important Dates for the School Year:

  • Start Date: August 29, 2023 (Tuesday)
  • End Date: June 14, 2024 (Friday)
  • Closing Ceremony: Included in the calendar

This plan follows a law called Republic Act (RA) No. 11480. This law adds more days to the school year, going from 200 to 220 class days. This means the school year will run within these dates.

Alternative Learning System (ALS):

For those in the ALS program, learning will start on the same day as regular school, which is August 29, 2023. How long the program takes will depend on the agreement between learners and teachers, based on what they know before starting.

Rules for Private Schools and Universities:

Private schools and state/local universities and colleges can use these guidelines for their calendars. They also have to follow the rules in RA 11480 about how many class days are needed. If they need to do something different, they should tell their regional offices (ROs) before.

Changes and Repeal:

All previous DepEd Orders and related rules that don’t align with these guidelines are no longer valid. These new guidelines take precedence.

For more detailed information, you can read DepEd Order No. 22, s. 2023.
